NFL Playoffs Challenge Super Bowl Round and FINAL Results

S h a r e :

WHOA BABY! That was one heck of a Super Bowl. One to talk about for years and years. I didn’t have a lot of rooting interest in either team so I, like many, wanted to see a good game. We got that! Congrats New England Patriots. Tough one to lose Seattle Seahawks. Only one team could win it so without spending any time here to dwell on, “the call”, we’ll just say, great game.

The conclusion of the Super Bowl marked the last hurrah of Fantasy Throwdown for the 2014-15 NFL season, and individual game results went out last night. One more thing to decide however is our NFL Playoffs Challenge. Lets get to that.

The NFL Playoffs Challenge is a competition where each contestant plays two Throwdown games per week of the NFL Playoffs (one game for Super Bowl), and we tally points for how well they performed in those challenges. Players earn 2 points for a win, plus 0.5 points if they win a challenge by 21 or more fantasy points. There is an also an additional 0.5 points awarded after the Super Bowl, for each time they drafted the eventual Super Bowl MVP in all of their Throwdown games in this contest.

We have 20 entries in the contest, prizes for Top 5 overall finishers, plus a weekly prize. Check the full rules and results from Wild-Card Weekend, Divisional Playoffs and Conference Championships.

Round 4 Standings

Pretty straight forward strategy by me manning the Throwdown1 account. If you guys gave me the first pick, I took Marshawn Lynch. If you guys took Lynch first overall, I took Rob Gronkowski. Both had great games, and the advantage provided by each guy was pretty equal.

I did like Julian Edelman a lot, but I may not have taken him to pair with Gronk out of concern taking a big miss at RB. Mistake. I did have Tom Brady ahead of Russell Wilson. Too much Jermaine Kearse, figuring Doug Baldwin would be shut down by Darrelle Revis. No one drafted Chris Matthews, that is for sure. The defenses and kickers made little to no difference.

Remember, 4 points for a win and a full point for winning by 21 or more points.

Two Patriots fans at the top of the board. How fitting! And, not unlike the Super Bowl conclusion, Wilforkisland snatched the championship at the virtual 1-yard line from mikemar, who held the lead since our opening round. Wilfork caught up thanks for winning his Super Bowl match by 21+, and ultimately for drafting Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady 4 our of a possible 5 times. mikemar drafted Brady 3 times.

tshnide (entry #2) went only 4-3 on won-loss record, but maximized his wins with numerous 21+ point margins of victory, and he drafted Tom Brady more times than any other member in the contest, the maximum possible 5 times.

gtrain went 5-2 in the contest and drafted Brady 3 times to help propel him to 4th overall. sguile wasn’t high on Brady, drafting him only once, but won his Super Bowl match by 21+ by a mere 0.05 points to earn the bonus and finish in 5th place.

Congrats Wilforkisland! He takes the championship and wins $150. mikemar earns 2nd place and $75. tshnide wins $50, gtrain $30 and sguile $20. Great job by our Top 5, and really awesome job everyone for getting their drafts done every round.

Thanks everyone for playing! Hope you enjoyed our NFL Playoffs Challenge. Have a great offseason and see you back next year!
