Three Keys to Victory – Week 14

S h a r e :

‘Tis the season to give, and some of the matchups this weekend are very giving. So, if you’re not out shopping ’til you drop (like all the women in my family), then take a look at some of the NFL teams that are giving generously over the past few weeks.

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Over the past three weeks, Ryan Fitzpatrick is averaging 247 passing yards and 35 rushing yards per game, to go along with 5 touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing). This places him at 25 points-per-game over the past three weeks. “The Amish Rifle’s” play has helped Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Delanie Walker and Chris Johnson. The Tennessee Titans offense is clicking.

This week he gets to face the Denver Broncos, who have allowed the most red zone trips (15) and touchdowns (8) over the past three weeks, and two of those games were against the Kansas City Chiefs, whose offense ranks last in the league in scoring (13.2), according to Four of Fitzpatrick’s touchdowns in the past three weeks have come inside the red zone. If you can’t grab Manning in this matchup, don’t fret. Fitzpatrick could be in line for a nice day.

Nick Roach

For those of you playing individual defensive player (IDP) challenges, don’t skip out on Nick Roach this week vs. the hapless New York Jets offense. In the past three weeks, Roach has the most fantasy points and second highet average per game amongst defensive players. In that time span, he has 20 tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 pass deflection, and 1 interception. He’s been a one man wrecking crew at linebacker.

The Jets have allowed 7 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks over the past three weeks, and their passing offense is stagnant. Look for Roach to wreak havoc this weekend in MetLife Stadium.

DeSean Jackson and Riley Cooper

According to Pro Football Reference, the Detroit Lions have allowed 14 touchdowns on plays of 20 yards or more this season. They’re coming off a good game against the Packers, but this was with Matt Flynn leading the way. Now, they are facing the Philadelphia Eagles potent offense. Nick Foles is third in the league in passing touchdowns over twenty yards with 10, and DeSean Jackson and Riley Cooper are both on the short list of 13 receivers who have 4 or more receiving touchdowns over twenty yards.

Foles was sacked five times against the Arizona Cardinals, but prior to that he had never been sacked more than three. If the o-line can hold up and not allow the formidable Detroit front line to get in, then the passing game should be able to exploit and weak Lions secondary. My bet is on the Eagles receivers to get loose for a couple of big touchowns.
